House of Tarot with Zoe Jakes

If there's one thing I love is dance, in particular, fusion belly dance.

Being part of Zoe Jakes' production, House of Tarot, last January in Oakland was truly incredible.

From the moment I found out I would be performing the iconic Moon choreography to the song “Nau-Ashta” by Beats Antique, I felt a deep sense of responsibility. During rehearsals, I treated the moon with respect in hopes it would not betray me on stage.

Every run-through on stage felt breathtaking... I was being a part of something I've dreamed of for years!

Plus dancing along one of the best fusion belly dancers in the world, and dancing my favorite House of Tarot piece was simply exhilarating.

We had a to learn the choreographies on our own weeks before arriving to Oakland. Then, we trained with our respective groups for 5 days before the two shows.  We had a show on Friday and another one the next day, which in a way, there was the pressure of doing things "perfectly," after having already performed it the night before.

Thank God the moon didn't let me down!

Besides the Moon Piece, I also performed in "Slapdash" with another group of incredible dancers.
